In the Gundam Series, it's not unusual to see customized mobile suits. It is rare to see actual modifications to the cockpit however. The most significant one is Dozle Zabi's custom Zaku II, which had to have an enlarged cockpit because the guy was freakishly huge. Do you know what modification I would make to my cockpit? If you guessed a diaper change system, you would be correct. Now I won't get a diaper rash when I'm fighting.
