It was clear to Daniel that the simple looking book, now within his hands, was something that seemed to come right out of antiquity. After all, there was no fancy lettering or designs on the book itself...but touching I made it seem like it had seen countless years of existence. From what he was told, the book had belonged to one of his ancestors, a man by the name of Ferdinand Fitzpatrick. He had been an explorer and professor that had lived back in the 1800's and seemed to be a very well seasoned treasure hunter and explorer with Egypt seeming to be his specialty. But...he didn't know why he was given the book but had found out that the book was a sort of family heirloom...though, it would only pass down through certain requirements such as being the third son of a third son...and it seemed that other than his grandfather...no one else in the family had received it until today. He was given the book as a part of his twenty first birthday from his grandfather's estate...but...he didn't know what to do with it.
When he had opened it up, there was a little note on the inside that gave a brief introduction to the reader, telling him that what was contained within was his life's work as well as a little history of himself. But, the note seemed to leave off with a little bit of a cryptic ending as it said that all within the book contained something powerful...but nothing was ever told about what this powerful thing was. But...there was a little exert that would say that upon finishing this book...that his ancestor would be leaving for some time and was unsure when he would return. A part of him wondered what this meant...but...he remembered that there was a backstory to his ancestor. It seemed that the man, despite being one of the best explorers in the world, had almost seemed to disappear from the world with the last known sighting of him was at his home in England. One of his colleagues had come in that morning and seen the tiger eating his breakfast before talking with him about some sort of business before leaving to retrieve a package from one of the tiger's neighbors. Upon his return, the man had disappeared with his breakfast still warm on the plate. Ever since that day, no one ever knew what happened to him...but...the one thing that was found was the book with a note upon it.
It was an odd sot of story to accompany the book...but it did make the book more interesting at least. So, he would begin to read through the pages as he found old notes, written hieroglyphics and old pictures of dig sites that the man had participated in along with descriptions of each with two of them being specific about a dig in China and another in Egypt. It seemed that according to the Egyptian dig...they had been able to uncover an ancient temple that, unlike most that were built as tombs and dedicated to deities of the Egyptian pantheon , was dedicated to a completely new sort of god. It seemed that whomever this deity was...that he was completely separate from the Egyptian pantheon though it was hard to tell if he was older or younger than those like Osiris, Set and other gods. There were no known texts of the deity other than depictions of what seemed to be like a massive minotaur of sorts...but...not much else. Along with the dig, there seemed to be ancient pottery, jewelry and other such items most could find...but a couple of the items shown were a pair of golden ankhs. It seemed that the ankhs, while seen through other Egyptian lore, was the main symbol for this deity. A little footnote to the side said that the man had taken these as a sort of memento of this dig and proudly took care of them, neither selling them or letting anyone else take them.
The more the young tiger had read, the more he saw of this ancient god...and the more he read, it seemed the more his ancestor seemed to have become devoted to uncovering this ancient figure like a man obsessed. In some older notes, it said that the man had begun to receive visions in his sleep, visions of the same deity speaking to him...though at first speaking in an old, forgotten tongue but soon, as if by magick, began to understand the minotaur as it was like he was being instructed to do some sort of task. When he had awoken, he would begin to put together the book, assembling the pictures and notes...and soon, he would find that how he assembled the book was almost like a puzzle as the pictures and writings were like hidden instructions. So, his ancestor would begin to write down the hieroglyphs in the way the deity instructed him to on paper...writing it down along with his translation of what the hieroglyphs meant: "Oh ancient god beyond the sands, I beseech thee. My will, my body, my soul are all yours to command as I offer myself as a servant to you in this life as well as the next. Here me now, and know that I offer myself freely...and as sacrifice...I offer my blood so that I might stand before you." It seemed like an odd incantation...but from what the man said, the sacrifice seemed to only call for a small sample of blood.
Soon, towards the end of the book, there was the incantation as well as what seemed like a couple of stained droplets on the page....curious if they were blood or possibly just spilt ink. Flipping the last page, Daniel would find a final note, seeming to tell whomever was reading that upon using the incantation himself...he was unsure when he would be granted an audience with the god...but that he was ready for when he would come to him. At the bottom of the page, it was dated October 25th, 1836...a day before the man's sudden disappearance. He wondered if anyone else had read the book and perhaps put one and one together....but...at the same time, many would probably disregard this as nothing more than just hocus pocus, a mere coincidence considering that any one of the man's colleagues could have read the note to perhaps cover their tracks. Of course, that path was explored back then though ended up fruitless when none of the colleagues were even around the man's home, each having alibis and even the last man to see him was cleared of any suspicion. All in all, the man's disappearance was never solved and was left as one of the greatest mysteries in the archaeologist world.
But a part of him couldn't help but feel as though that the man's mysterious disappearance was definitely tied to the book...especially the incantation left within. A part of him was curious about speaking the incantation...but superstition as well as a general sense of doubt made him think otherwise. Though...it was late so for now, he would decide to get some sleep and perhaps read up a bit more, in detail, of the book he had gotten. Though for him, he had not noticed that upon the page in which he read the incantation from had ended up taking from him what he did not intend. On the corner of the page appeared a small trace of blood...new blood thanks to a paper cut that had gone unnoticed. Unknown to him, a deep and ancient force had already begun to reawaken...not so much within his own realm but within the physical realm of the mortals.
So it was as he slept that he began to see something deep within his dreams. For him, he had been dreaming about becoming a great chef though in one moment, the setting in which he was in changed. Everything would begin to turn dark, shrouding him in nothing more than mysterious shade. Before he knew it, a pair of golden eyes would come from the darkness, looking at him. For him, he wasn't sure what was going on...but...suddenly, a hand began to reach towards him...though before the hand could reach him, he would suddenly wake up in a cold sweat, breathing deep as he looked bout his room. Nothing would seem to be any different as all seemed as it should. Though...something felt a little odd...something was wrong. He wasn't quite sure of what it was that was out of place...so he decided that he would go for the book to make sure everything was alright. Since he was living on his own, his apartment had at least four rooms: living room and kitchen, his bedroom, bathroom and a washroom. Thankfully, it was much larger than it appeared and he was able to set many different sorts of things up in order to make sure he lived comfortably. So, he went to the living room to find the book on the bookshelf...though, as he picked it up, he suddenly had the feeling that he was not alone.
Daniel would turn around in order to see what was going on...and as he went to switch on the lights, he would suddenly see the sight of the a large, dark shadow in the corner of the living room. He would panic, dropping the book at his feet before he was able to flip on the light...and what stood before him was what he thought was the equivalent of a monster. Before him stood a large man, a minotaur if he had to choose considering the look of him...but everything about the man was not like that of a normal bull or minotaur. No...this man was larger both in size and in build with body composed of thick muscle and sinew, his body covered in a thick, chocolate brown pelt. The other was also rather...scantily clad as from all he could see were golden bracers upon the man's wrists and ankles as well as a loincloth resting about his hips...though...even though he was in too much fear, he could see that the man, much to his size, was rather well gifted simply by look at the front of that cloth. As he looked further up, he saw the man's large, black nipples were pierced with gold piercings...and further up still, he was able to see the man's hair and mane...almost looking like a mix of a lion's mane and an Egyptian headdress though all hair and fur.
What set this apart from anything else though was the fact that the man's hair was...dual colored: black and white. It was in a striped pattern all about the mane...making the man seem ethereal in the sense of his appearance alone. Upon the man's face...there was the symbol of the ankh as depicted within the book...and for a brief second, he was struck dumbfounded as he realized that all that was written within the book, what his ancestor was dealing with...this deity before him was real. 100% real. Before he could say anything, the large deity before him spoke out in a deep, near thunderous voice. "So...you are the one that called me to this world."
"C...ca...call you?" Daniel exclaimed. "I...I did not such thing!"
"Really now?" the voice spoke out, a grin forming upon those large lips before a raise of the hand drew up the book into his grasp. He would simply flip the pages before showing the incantation page. But what the massive minotaur pointed out was a red blotch on the edge of the page. "I believe that this...and the fact that you spoke the incantation...and were so nice to offer a blood sacrifice is more than enough for you to summon me." -the figure said before dropping the book. "And...for you to call me...means that you are the third son of a third son, blood relative of...well...I am more than sure you know of whom I speak."
Daniel would gasp, realizing that there had been a drop of his blood on the page...looking down to see the image of the cut on his finger. He actually had summoned the god before him...and...if the book was any indication, he too would disappear like his ancestor.
"Don't think that you are simply going to disappear my little one. Though, I will take you from here but...you will not die. No...you shall be accompanying me back to my ethereal home to join your dear relative Ferdinand."
"But..that's...almost been two hundred years ago. Surely he can't be alive still." -he said, looking to the man as he felt eyes staring upon him with hungry eyes.
"I remind you, I am a god...and I have the powers to bestow immortality if I so chose it...and...dear Ferdinand was eager to serve me and become my servant. After all, when he had summoned me, it had been many a millennia since I had last been worshipped as a god...and sadly, my powers had become somewhat weak. But when your ancestor happened upon my temple and began to decipher the hieroglyphs, I began to manipulate him...seeping into his dreams and giving him commands in order to construct this book you see before you. Through this book...I will find and create a new kingdom of worshippers...though sadly, the spell is still somewhat restrictive. Right now, it only works thanks to your ancestors blood...as well as it can only work with the third son of a third son...in this case, you. But, now that I have you...my magick will only grow stronger. Now, I will no longer have to wait for the third son of a third son to offer their blood...but at least one more of your family to recite the incantation. Once I am able to take one more of your family's blood, I will no longer have to look to your bloodline solely to read the incantation. At that point....anyone reciting the spell will be more than enough to bring them unto my power." the figure said, his voice as deep as a rumble. Of course, the entire time that he spoke, those eyes of his never once left the smaller tiger before him. Of course, the only thing that changed about him was that his loincloth was only growing a bit lager...and the manly scent of a deity would grow stronger.
"But...well...you...you can't possibly need me. I mean..." -Daniel tried to speak, not quite sure of what to say considering that he was in the presence of a god. He couldn't simply just run for fear of possibly being killed by the other...but...he sensed that the god was not going to simply kill him. After all, he needed him alive for what he intended to accomplish. But, as he focused his eyes upon the other...he would see that the man had already lifted both of his hands, almost seeming to make certain motions as if trying to summon something forth. Sadly for Daniel, he had not realized that the man was manipulating the tiger's own shadow as two large hands began to rise up from the darkness.
"Oh, I will need you. Trust me, I need your energy...your body...your soul. Like your ancestor, you will become mine and serve me for an eternity...or at least as long as I see fit. You will come to know me as Master...though, if there was a name for you to call me by, I guess it will be "Meanbeard". I can't quite recall what possessed your ancestor to call me that...but...for some reason, I've grown on the name. As for my ancient name...I will keep that for a time at least...not until I am able to establish a new kingdom in this...modern world of yours. " Meanbeard said, suddenly grasping his hands into fists...by which caused the two shadowed hands to grasp about Daniel's ankles.
"W...what the?! Let me go!" -he exclaimed, trying to struggle against the firm grasp...but when he looked up to the other, he felt his body freezing into place. As he looked into the other's eyes, the minotaur's golden orbs had shown brightly as he would cast a light hypnosis spell upon the tiger's mind.
"No....I don't think I will be doing that...not until I take you to your new home. Come my little one...let us return back to my realm so that I might introduce you to your ancestor. Of course there...I will have you know me more than as a god." -he said as he licked his lips- "After all, your body seems to call out to me...and I would think it a shame to deny it its wants....as well as deny me my wants." -he said as his groin pulsed once more. Before long, that shadow had expanded beneath both of their bodies...pulsing a bit before both bodies began to sink down and into the void. It was surprisingly warm, almost like being surrounded by warm water...but...where it would take them, the tiger would have no idea. Of course, he could not focus on that at the moment...at least not now. No, he and his new god would begin to descend into the darkness...down and into the depths to be transported into a new world. By the time that the shadows had finally disappeared...the two of them had left this realm of mortals...with the only left being the book there in the center of the room. But much like before, no one would realize the book was a powerful tome...and so will it continue to claim new followers for the ancient god. As for Daniel...well...much like a book, it was only but the beginning of a new chapter. A new chapter to a new life of servitude, but...it would not be a bad thing. No, in time Daniel will come to revel in his new role...but that is a story for another time.
In the realm of mortals, Daniel's disappearance had occurred but only a few months ago...no one knowing what happened to the young tiger as many have thought about the book being the only thing out of place. Of course, some thought the book was but a curse...others thought that it was merely a kidnapping, keeping hope that he was alive somewhere. In truth, it was true he was alive...living in a new realm. But...it was nothing that the male's family would have imagined. Though, only one would seem to think the book had a secret...a secret that would answer where Daniel had went. So, that night...Richard, Daniel's younger brother, would take the book out into the woods behind his home...and much like before, would recite those words once more....only bringing a grin to a well satisfied god's lips.
