In a Frank story, our hero sees a skywriting advertising a palace of horrors. So he ambles over to see it. On the way, he sees several horrific sights.
1 - Manhog attacked by a mosquito-like bird and punctured in many places. 2 - A man carving away his own face, which is deformed by a proboscis. 3 - a chicken smashing her own eggs with a mallet
All these sights horrify him,making him grimace,panic & run. He then comes upon the "Palace of Horrors" and finds it is just a stand with 4 objects on top.
1 - A film clip of an enemy of his, Whim. 2 - A drawing of a ghost 3 - A skull of some ape-like animal. 4 - A rattle with a face on it.
He leaves after putting a coin in the donation can. Homeward bound he sees the results of the 3 spectacles he saw on his way there.

Once home,Frank paints a sign EXIT over his front door. This implies that the entire outside world is a palace of horrors...
