in the D&D universe my friends and i have developed there are 4 breeds of sphinx: Geno which are the only females amongst the lot and there heat inspires rage in all sphinx kind, Hearico who have only animal like or bug like treats, Andro which are the most human looking and the favored mates of the Geno, and finely the Draco which is a hybred that accurse when any other sphinx breeds with a dragon or fairy.
