He takes one final deep breath,
Stares up at the ceiling…
It’s been two years since he’s seen her go,
And now, I see he’s leaving….
It’s been a long road, and here I know,
This is the last time I’ll see him..
Oh but at the end of this life,
At the end of this road,
I’ll see him, once more….
86 years, and he’s still there,
As he closes his eyes,
36 years spent in that old brick house,
Man did the time just fly by..
And I have to wonder did she wait for him,
Once he ascended there,
And are they dancing there together,
Like they did, back in this life?
Dear old grandpa, he’s left today,
Found himself back on the road again,
86 years and now he’s gone,
Found the road to glory today.
And I know that he’s not alone,
Cause Lord, I know she’s been waiting..
Cause it’s been 2 years since he lost his soul,
Died of, a broken heart.
Yeah we knew it was coming soon,
The last couple months hadn’t gone well.
And it ached my heart to hear the news,
Cause I couldn’t ever see him..
And that Friday that I came by,
Saw the shine in his eyes,
And I knew that it wouldn’t be long,
Till he left this life alive…
Dear old grandpa, he’s left today,
Found himself back on the road again,
86 years and now he’s gone,
Found the road to glory today.
And I know that he’s not alone,
Cause Lord, I know she’s been waiting..
Cause it’s been 2 years since he lost his soul,
Died of, a broken heart.
But I strongly believe, there’s another life, and I believe that he’s out to find.
Cause I know, down deep in his heart, He was waiting for his time.
To depart from this lonely world, seen a new star shine.
And though I’ll miss him much, more than anyone knows,
I wish him, the best…
Cause I couldn’t ever ask him to stay any longer,
When she was waiting on the other side…
Dear old grandma, she’s found today,
Found her husband right at the gate,
86 years and how he’s home,
Found the road to glory today…
And I know that they’re together now,
And of this, I can be assured,
It’s been 2 years since death do they part,
Died of, a broken heart….
Alive with a healed heart,
Together now and forever.
