So, I was cleaning up my room a bit, when I happened upon a skirt I bought last year at a thrift shop. I had bought it for one purpose, really, then never used it since. However, my mind suddenly rewinded to an earlier memory, from a few years back...

It was my first summer away from home. I mean, really away: traveling around New England with other teens, having fun, with music... I was trying new things, learning about the world, and even cross dressed.

This one girl and I went to some clothing store. She talked me in to buying a skirt for one purpose, just to wear for an hour for an old tradition the camp does. I liked it. It was a brown skirt, almost kilt like, but still obviously a skirt. I bought it, and wore it.

It felt nice, right. I ended up wearing it more often, which the other kids were cool with. However, on the last day, my mom saw me wearing the skirt... And, she did not apprdciate it one bit. Upon leaving, from the second I entered the car to the end of the three hour drive home, she was lecturing me, yelling and scolding me, telling me all that was wrong with all that I was doing, and all that.

I still wore it a few more times after, and she found out, soon sneaking in to my closet, grabbing it, and selling it. It was a couple years before I bought another one, as an adult, but I didn't end up using it, the experience kind of, ruined by that memory of my mom's severe disappointment.

I mean, I can't blame her one bit; she just wants what's best for me. Just, sharing memories.

Repressing your desires is what's best for you?

Well, to further defend her, it is harder for a cross dresser, or trans person, or whatever this would make me, to have a normal life without being persecuted or hated ^^;

I know the translations of the word and it's meaning. But, do you mean ready to accept 'non traditional' gender and sex identities?

oh sorry. Yes that's what I mean.

There was a girl who'd learned of my secret desire for it, and encouraged me to accept it.  S'pose the difference was that by the time I got into it really, I'd already been about to move away to college, my homophobic stepdad was out of my life, and I was mostly on my own.  It did make it easier for me.

Later come to find out that after a stint in prison, my formerly homophobic stepfather became a drag queen.  This was the perfect opportunity to come out to my mother, and when she told me about it, I told her "It's okay, I look much better in a dress than she."

Swimmingly, even.  The moral of the story is that you just gotta keep your chin up, and be yourself, and things should work out decently. <3

If you say so. I doubt that would work on my end though ^^;
