Aquarius the custom Breyer horse
Commissioned request to take a Breyer horse and customize it to look like the customer’s original dragon character design named Aquarius to go with her female BJD named Ocean Mist.
The entire horse is hard plastic. So the only way for me to customize it, was to melt all the parts I needed to customize, with a hair dryer. Melted the material of the horse rather easily, and made appropriate incisions on the head, shoulder, rump and hooves with an exacto blade.
After all the holes were made, I then did all the paint work in acrylic paints, then sealed it with Artists Varnish. Horse was originally brown and white.
Took gray leather and hand-stitched 8 horns for the head. Cut more and glued it down on the neck/underbelly, then cut some for claws. Belly and claws are lined with white hemp cording.
Blue hemp cording is knotted and glued/fastened as long whiskers on the muzzle.
Wings are hand-stitched turquoise leather around gold wire that’s fastened into the shoulders of the horse. Tail is hand-stitched from the same leather, with some pale blue cotton fabric sewn at the tip with teal hemp cording glued on. Tail is glued to the tail base of the horse.
Black cuffs on hooves are hand-stitched with chains stitched as well. Chains fastened around neck, belly and tail via pliers to finish.
