Ch.1 Part 2
Artic was sitting strapped to his chair as he saw the ocean blowing past him and the full white moon above with the stars around dotting the night sky hearing the engine rev up louder as it hit maximum speed and hear the click for the auto pilot looking at one of the three furs on the battle airboat Artus come to him with a first add and an alchemist vial, a white vixen, she was the lead medic and medical researcher it was his wife of 20 years Karen
“Karen, what have I told you about leaving the island? You’re a medic not a warrior” Karen scoffed at these words and stared him in the eyes sternly “And what have I told YOU Brad, about going out alone on hunts?” shaking her head mumbling to herself annoyed and somewhat over worried handing her husband the vial of liquid “Here drink this its for the holes in your body and that acid burn” at the same time she began to tend to his wounds with the med kit “what is our daughter –of FIVE years old I might add- going to do if something happens to you?” Brad just chuckled then winced as she began to clean the bite wound “Y-your both strong you’d do fine” she was about to reply when a deep soothing voice from up front could be heard amongst radio chatter.
“Brad that’s not the point dammit!” a tall orange and silver wolf whom was the leader of the island and the best tactical mind they’re squad had, he sighed and the ship remained in silence as he looked at his fiancé sitting next to him, a fur covered blue and pink dragoness “take over babe please?” she nodded and took the controls with him giving her a kiss” thanks…how long till we reach home love?” she glanced at the distance on the GPS “oh about 15 more minutes and well be in range of the sub bay” he smiled “excellent” looking at Karen and Brad in the back “what are we going do with you Brad?” sighing and speaking again before the tiger could answer “What was Dread doing out there? It’s not like Toxia to just send one of her commanding freaks to the middle of bum fucked nowhere….”
Looking down at the floor then back up with a heavy breath “He…he said things are about to change for us….in time approximately 8 years from now, Josh….Sashi….”As he gestured towards the wolf and dragoness he said that Toxia is going to use his soul among others to bring back Xechrian…at least that’s what he said” Josh’s eyes went wide and he shook his head “That’s impossible, we sealed him away long ago and we have researched for ANY possible ways he could come back and have found nothing.” Turning back to sit down “You must have heard wrong or maybe dread was just delusional…either way lets just all go home and pretend this never happened”
He grunted almost plopping into the pilots seat and sealing the door so he could let what he had just heard sink in as Sashi placed her paw onto his “Darling maybe he wasn’t hearing things what if it really is going to happen? I mean maybe there’s something we overlooked something we missed…” Josh looked at her and shook his head rubbing his skull as he looked out the window at they’re home island closing in on the sub bay, at the same moment receiving permission to dock. “Baby, you know we spent years upon years looking for a way he could come back and nothing has come up, you know that” Feeling a little uneasy but re-assured she smiled “of course my love” as she kissed his cheek holding his paw tightly making him smile back as he looked down at they’re rings “besides…we have our wedding to look forward too tomorrow and soon after to start a family” she nodded and they kissed as they docked and boarded off holding each others paws watching as Brad was carried off to the ER for the night
Josh looked at Karen as she stepped out with her gear “how’s he doing?” as Karen lowered her head “I didn’t want to tell him….but when he was bitten one of the wounds punctured his spinal cord….he’s going to be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life” Josh sighed and gave Karen a hug “I’m so sorry Karen….I know he’s not going to like that one bit….being a soldier was his life” at that moment Karen forced a smile through her tears “well maybe there’s a silver lining here…now hell be able to stay with me and his Samantha where he belongs…..I couldn’t go on if something happened to him and he didn’t come back” placing his paw on Karen’s shoulder “go to him Karen, he’s going to need you more than ever now….he’s going to be a broken man when he finds out he has to hang up his armor and Star” she nodded and bolted off to the hospital as Josh looked at his wife holding her close at the end of the docking bay. “Well baby, certain things happened tonight that makes me think that its time for change….in the way we live…in the way the elders put the –guide lines- of our island….they’re thousands of years old and the worlds around us have changed…its bout time we did too” Sashi looked at her wolf “Although most on this island would claim that to be blaspheming, I will support you all the way, but for now….lets just focus on us and happier times ahead. As she thought of they’re wedding approaching and french kisses her lover in the full moonlight in view of the open ocean holding paws.
