Alice stands on trial before the Queen of Hearts for failing to regain her sanity.
For anyone who's played through both American McGee's Alice and Alice Madness Returns, this picture asks the opposite scenario, "What if Alice actually took the Queen's advice and retreated during their final encounter in the Queens castle?"
What would Alice Madness Returns be like if the Queen never stepped down from power and continued to dominate Wonderland with an iron rule?
Well now Alice stands before the court, ordered to be beheaded by her own twisted hallucinations for the crime of failing to regain her sanity. She already previously attempted suicide by slitting her wrists in order to escape from this twisted reality but failed, but with the White Rabbit as her defence attorney and everybody else either rooting for her demise or too afraid to defile the Queen, Alice has no chance of ever waking up from her nightmare or regaining her sanity.
