A smilodon warrior rests for a moment near some rock art done by his tribe.

This has actually been floating around my head for a while, but the theme of this year's Anthrocon (which, if you haven't noticed, I am having WAY too much fun with) gave me a reason to put it to paper. I've been itching to try semirealism again, especially since my last one was so well received.

I love prehistory and especially art and artifacts from that era so this was so much fun to do.Sold in the Anthrocon 2010 art show.

I often try to encourage artists to draw leptictidiums, since I cannot draw, myself, but I rarely have the money to commission, so I can't ask (or demand- Not my style) anyone to draw them, but I do look out for artists with an interest in prehistoric mammals to see if they even have an interest. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes not. *shrug*

Nice work, BTW- Males and cats aren't my thing, but the work looks very good. :)

Gorgeous! The fur texture is great, I can nearly feel him.  It's amazing that you managed to impose expression around his saber-teeth, very good! The tip on his spear is maybe a little sharper than one could actually do... although I don't know much about flint-working... and the beads in his necklace pretty small for stone-age technology. But I know I'm splitting hairs about details. I really like this picture!

This must be one of the best pieces I have seen (and I do not favorite many realistic works). Love the creature, fur, colors, pattern and teeth (soft spot for these!). Would have acquired as original/print/poster.
