Ryo - "Noriko?? What are you doing up there!?"
Noriko - "I want to be a Kindergarten Teacher, so I have to study..."
I always knew there was something odd about Noriko, but come to think about it, I think there's something odd about all Ryo's friends to be perfectly honest. It's almost like that horror film, I really can't remember the name of it, It's kinda like The Faculty meets Alan Wake. Some guy and his sister move to a small town by the creek and are transferred to the high school there but the students are all under radio mind control or some junk, and its up to the main character, some skater dude and the janitor to try and fight the conspiracy. Ring any bells, Anyone? No?
Ah well.
For those of you (most of you reading this I assume), who don't get this very subtle in-game joke, allow me to explain it to you.
Basically Noriko is an NPC in the video game, Shenmue who is a friend of the main character, Ryo. And everytime you go up and speak to her, she always seems very spaced out and distracted, always telling us how she'd love to study to become a kindergarten teacher someday.
But the fact is, A) You always see her wandering around town aimlessly 24/7, B) I don't think she's ever been near a book before in her life, and C) She really does seem like the type of girl who you would find standing on top of a butchers store at 8 o'clock in the morning staring mindlessly into space...
I don't even think she even WANTS to become a kindergarten teacher, I think it's just a cover up for some really deep, dark, repressed memory she's been hiding...
P.S. The toy capsules by the side of the You Arcade have been replaced by Halo: Combat Evolved and Sonic Adventure!
