While other cubs are winding down, watching their favorite shows, and getting ready for bed, Mekiko is at her desk, trying to contain her boredom as she studies.

Her Father falls into the cliche that his child must be the smartest, best at whatever sport they play, and just generally if its below a A+ then it may as well been a F.

Although her Dad tends to work long hours, and get home late,and is usually grumpy/needy when he is home Mekiko so far has kept up with his standards.
When he gets home the house is clean, his dinner is made, her homework is done, her A+ is on the fridge for him to see or not see.. all in all she keeps up the perfect daughter routine.

Yikes. That seems like an awful lot for one little girl to have to handle. Especially one as young as she looks! I'd say dad needs to lighten up a little. Letting a kid be a kid once in a while isn't going to spoil anything.

Though, from a story-telling standpoint, there's a heck of a lot you can do with that. Especially if young Mekiko decides she's tired of living up to such impossible standards. So I'll certainly be looking forward to seeing what else you do with her! The art is really beautiful, too. Her expression is the perfect balance of boredom and wistfulness, and the dark grey background makes it look late and gives things an air of oppression, as boredom will do. Plus I love how well you set up the scene with your art and the description. It really brings the viewer not only into the moment, but into her world and lets you feel things right along with her.

Awww, poor girl.. :'C
Never understood such a parents that basicaly breaks the child by forcing them keep up to unbelievable standarts.
I knew a girl that cried outloud when teacher gave her (B- ), cuz her mom would beat the girl for bringing home anything lesser than A or B. Even a tiny, meaningless '-' was a crossline for her..
Wish to help her somehow..

She need more friends to run to and be comforted, at least once in a while..
