"No, it's not because of your... uncommon personality traits," Sennia spoke.  "I just don't think there's a market for a new game show like that, especially with you as a host."

Sennia was sitting at her desk in the head office of her own TV studio.  She was lady in her 20s (human, naturally) with long medium-blonde hair, wearing a crisp blue business dress.  She was used to receiving odd pitches from eager writers, directors, and desperate former celebrities, but this particular approach from a rather eccentric girl had her confused. Sennia continued to explain.

"You see, the ratings---"
"RATINGS?  Oh man, OH MAN, you have no idea how great people will find this!  It'll be LEGENDARY!  Really!  Everybody wants this!  But nobody's crazy enough to do it!"

On the opposite side of Sennia's desk was another human girl. Contrasting Sennia's businesslike appearance, this girl was positively manic.  She was young, likely around 18 years old, and seemed to have a ridiculous fashion sense.  Her hair was in pigtails, the left side dyed a strong red, the right side dyed bright yellow, and it looked like she had applied a chalky white foundation not just to her face, but her entire body.  She wore yellow mismatched clothing, wore no shoes, and with her ecstatic grin taken into account, she came across as almost intimidating... yet her happiness negated that at least a little bit.  Her name was Chloe, and she had recently been introduced to starring in a game show herself. She continued her pitch to Sennia.

"C'mon, tell me what YOU think.  Why do you think those physical game shows are dying out?!"

"Well," Sennia responded, mentally checking all of the reasons she had refused other similar pitches, "they no longer have that the same cultural thrill as when they were popular the first time around.  You had dating game shows, and now they come across as extremely old fashioned, where bubbly ladies just giggle to themselves over cheesy chat up lines.  Then there were quiz and puzzle game shows, and now they have the same thrill level as a crossword book.  The most excitement you get from those is from tired parents shouting answers at their televisions.  Then there was the slime gimmick for children of the 1990s, but that generation have all grown up now, so it has gone out of style.  Plus, when they try to reattempt it these days, everyone knows it's coming, so the shows just involve people standing around in a gunge tank wearing a waterproof coat and goggles.  Survivor voting games became so overused that they've already had a dozen novels, movies, and manga series based on them.  Then there were fear themed game shows.  Even bungee jumping and eating bugs is tiresome after so many of those.  That brings us to today with obstacle course shows, and there's only so many times that somebody falling off a big ball into a pool of water is interesting."

"EXACTLY." said Chloe confidently.
"...Excuse me?" replied, her confusion quite evident.

"Exactly!  They're no longer *interesting*!  They used to be breaking social boundaries and breaking new grounds, but now they're just going through the motions!  We need to take everything to the highest level!  Dating and romance themes?!  NO!  Rampant sex!  Puzzles?  Who cares about the puzzles, it's all about the consequences for failing them!  Slime would be a lot more exciting if we got rid of all those clunky old 'pull lever, someone gets slimed' routines and built *all new* flashy contraptions!  Think roller coasters!  New kinds of gunk!  Get it *inside* their clothes, not over their coats!  Survivor style vote-offs?!  The opposite is better, keep as many people in the game as possible, more people to watch is always better!  Fear?  Pah! How about some humili---"

"Intense embarrassment" Sennia cut in.
"What?"
"Intense embarrassment.  People get the wrong idea with the H word."
"Whatever you say, crazy lady!  We just need to ramp everything up!  Forget crossing boundaries, it's all about going as far as you can and making whole new boundaries!  For everything!  Mixed together!  An adult game show with nudity, penalty games, contraptions, imaginative sets, fetishes galore, pushing people to their limits, and rewarding them for it!  A real crazy show where anything actually *can* go, not just a few helter skelter slides and a really slow go-kart!  Seeing girls trying their best to win fame and avoid unexpectedly harsh punishments, that's where the thrill lies!"

"Well, we do need a more unique adult programming slot, and---  Wait, did you say fetishes?"
"Yeah!  Lots of them!  Though we won't want the contestants too clued in on what to expect, just gotta get some open minded enthusiastic ladies determined to win, set the scene, and see how far they go for the viewing public!"
"You really think people will just sign up for this?  Just putting out an ad saying 'Game show contestants wanted, must be okay with potential nudity in front of thousands of viewers and possibly being subjected to any kink imaginable?'"
"Oh jeez, you really don't know the sheer amount of wildly excitable furry ladies out there, do you?  I swear, most of them *pay* to have nudes drawn of them just for fame and attention, and heck, they're *way* more interesting than you, Miss Mary Sue."
Sennia blinked. "I'm just going to ignore that comment.  Well, the last part, at least.  Your ideas could have some merit... but even still, you say you want to take things further, but how far can you really go in a TV show?  Even with a large budget, it's not like more money makes for more intense viewing."

Chloe happily bent over the desk, slapping down a short stack of note paper, covered with badly scrawled ideas and doodles.  Curiously, Sennia leafed through them.  "So... this is the idea for one of the games, and... ah, I see, the loser gets a penalty of..."  Sennia's eyes widened as she turned over the page.  "...this is pretty, uh..."
"Extreme, right?!" grinned Chloe.
"NO!  We can't use that word, people think that's illegal!  It's, um. Certainly a high stakes game.  Is this even safe?"
"C'mon, at least read the rest first!"
"On the other pages, for the other games I presume?  Wait...  these are a continuation of the penalty?!"  Sennia flips through a couple more pages. "Just how long does this go on for?!"

For a few moments, Chloe just stared at her, grinning excitedly, while Sennia's eyes widened further as she continued reading.  Then her wide eyed expression became a wince, then back to wide eyed, and then she crossed her legs uncomfortably.  "I don't think our contestants would even be able to walk properly after all of these ideas. You're a real head case, you know that?"

"You know it!" responded Chloe.  "But wouldn't you just *love* to watch these scenes play out?"

There was a long silence.  A silence where Sennia mulled it over, feeling herself blushing deeply the more she considered the outcome.  She saw Chloe staring at her, and felt a glimpse of what it must feel like, the idea that someone would be watching these furry contestants while they feel embarrassed, all kinds of thoughts running through their minds...

"I... I think I understand the appeal to these potential contestants now.  Okay.  Let's get this casting call arranged, we have a *lot* of setting up to do."

"Aww yes!" exclaimed Chloe proudly. "Let's make some ridiculously over the top fantasies come true!~"

Author's Comments

This is the first attempt at writing I had ever tried outside of school work.  I almost deleted it, after writing a short alternate story for Agent 47's contest one WAM Anime Funland at roughly the same time, and then having written something more to the point for the game show after it, which would also double as an introduction.  Looking back on it now, I realised that there was still some merit to it, and it'd still make a good starting point to hopefully get people interested in what is to come.

I should also note that this story *will* contain furry contestants, by which I mean anthropomorphic animal ladies!  I'm posting this to non-furry sites as well, so I should make that clear.  Think fictional characters like Lola Bunny.

A little trivia;  This story originally used the real names of the characters who play them, before it was quickly decided that was a bad idea!  Some of the dialogue was changed so it could fit in with the contest fiction, removing references to Chloe meeting Sennia for the first time.  

While the introduction chapters are clean, the chapters for the show itself will not be!  Other chapters will be distinctly naughty, so for sites with restrictions on mature content, I'll be cutting the chapter as soon as it gets spicy, and post a link for 18+ audiences to follow if they wish to continue reading, and tag each chapter with the subjects it contains, so you can avoid anything that doesn't interest you.  Hopefully that'll work out for everyone!

Excellent writing here, well done.

I would love to read more and see some of the actual games, but I think the best part of this story is that we don't see the details, it's just pure tease, the reader doesn't see any details infers everything from the characters reactions.

That's a good trick when you do it well, and tidy did it really well.
