See, when I first started playing Pokemon, I got the Red version; my brother picked the Blue version. When Ruby and Sapphire came out, we decided we'd start the new generation with the opposite colors we picked as children; I got Sapphire, and he got Ruby.
I did not regret it... My Kyogre trashed his Groudon. The only regret I do have, is that I didn't get the game with the most epic villain team ever.

Haha, Yeah, I love all three of the legendary Pokemon in Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire, really, but Rayquaza's probably my favorite of all three. But I still think my favorites would have to be Rocket, I dunno, they're like...THE ORIGINALS.

I KNOW! It would be amazing if they somehow returned in a future game.
In a custom Pokemon story I am working on (it'll have 101 new Pokemon, and 100 of the older ones from all 6 gens), Team Rocket has returned, and they are the bad guys. However, they are not lead by Giovanni.
