Livestream has it's own specific cature software called Livestream Procaster, I imagine Twitch has a similar proprietary software thing. If you have a livestream account you should see the option to download the software and the things you can capture with it are pretty limitless I've yet to come across something I couldn't cap.

Yeah, you can set it to capture the whole screen or a portion of it, as long as you don't run a fullscreen app (like some steam games) it'll be fine. For which there's a special "gaming mode" and that's how I record Amnesia and Fable for youtube. Also the vids are saved to your video folder on your hard drive after you finish your stream and you can edit them in any video software editing of your choice (as they are usually just saved as MP4s which are widely compatible) hope that helps.

Ah here's the problem, ythere are a few different versions of livestream, the NEW Livestream site (new.livestream.com) has more customization, but viewers are required to have accounts (doesn't allow guest accounts) also if you're not a paid member your videos are deleted after 30 days! Whereas the old livestream (www.livestream.com) is less interactive but still the best as far as overall functionality goes as it allows you to invite people and they only need to create a guest account if they wanna comment.

What hoops? I was just telling you the main differences. One you pay to keep the videos, has customization, but the viewers either have to sign up for accounts (or link with their facebook) And the other one you don't. Ergo: The old livestream is a lot simpler than the new one. You create an account and download the desktop app. Double click the thing and start recording. That's it. There's a lot more legal BS if you wanna be corporate. But that's if you wanna get paid to stream.
