I have a conspiracy for you. King Sombra was never really evil. That was just a lie that Celestia told everypony so that it would be easier to get rid of him. She needed help getting rid of Sombra because she knew that he was more powerful than her. And that's why she wanted to get rid of him. Because she couldn't accept that there was somepony who was more powerful than her. And on a related note, it was really Celestia who wiped the memories of the Crystal Ponies to make it easier for her to convince them of her lies about King Sombra.
