I See You
Prelude
God and his curveballs
Sometimes in life god seems to enjoy throwing curveballs just to make sure your paying attention and
this could happen any day of the year or any moment of your life. For the young panda named Knight it has
happened a few times already, the first real curve ball in his life was when he was around eleven years old
and he was told he was to have surgery on his left eye too try to improve his less then perfect eyesight, Then
it was the news that the surgery failed and he lost all of his sight in what was at that point his good eye.
That news began the slow education of using a cane and getting used to his newfound condition of being
legally blind but it wasn't all bad and in time he had become accustomed to it. Knight shivered softly as he
walked toward the small coffee shop on his way home from the grocery store on a pleasant but cold Tuesday
afternoon. It was mid-September and it was snowing and although he loved the snow, he hated the cold that came with it which but he admitted the snow was one of the reasons he decided to stay in Alaska to begin with. He fidgeted with his full backpack and maneuvered his cane to let him know were the steps were so he could go inside and warm up a little and maybe sit down for a moment and have a nice hot drink. Knight opened the heavy door and the music of the day flooded out of the coffee shop and in his opinion it wasn't bad but he had a odd sense of music and this wasn't something he preferred but at least it was warm and cozy inside. He kicked off the snow off his shoes and walked inside were the pleasant heat greeted him and the tantalizing aroma of fresh coffee and treats filled the room. Knight looked around with his now good eye and saw the hooks for costumers jackets and things and he took off his heavy coat and smiled to himself as he grew warmer. Knight was tall standing just over six foot one and had brown messy hair that just seemed to get messier the more he tired to fix it. He was a bigger guy not that he really wanted to be but he was comfortable with it none the less as he adjusted his long sleaved shirt trying to make sure it was presentable. His short white fur was flacked with snow and he shook softly to get it off of him. The cold wasn't really were a red panda bear should live but it was his home now and he loved it. Knight looked around for a good spot to relax but frowned softly as it seemed he wasn't the only one with the idea to get out of the cold afternoon snow as the place was packed with people. "Damn" he thought to himself wearily as he got in line to order his cane held firmly in front of him, "Guess I'll just head home." he thought as the line slowly began to move. "Too bad everyone's too busy to hang out today." Knight couldn't find work that could accommodate him it left him with a lot of free time especially on a typical work week. Knight sighed to himself and ordered a hot chocolate to go. I guess ill go home and play Elder Paws again or watch a movie or something" he thought irately as he had already spent at least a hundred hours in the digital domain of the game already. He grabbed his hot drink as his large tail shifted irritably and he thanked the barista quickly as he started to grab his heavy coat and grumbled. "guess today will just a boring day after all."
Chapter On
A nice change of pace
Knight continued walking home drinking the hot chocolate quickly before it lost its warmth in the cold
conditions. Knight was used to the walk home so he didn't really have to pay attention to his surroundings
other then the light taps of his cane against the snow to make sure he didn't accidently step in a bank of
snow. While he walked his thoughts were trying to think of something fun to do for the rest of the day until
he heard some voices off in the distance. Knight stopped and listened to the voices as it was odd to hear
anyone as he lived outskirts of town except the occasional drunk fight or pot heads. "So little miss perfect
thinks just because she's so smart we will like her." said a rather venomous voice irritably. "No one likes
you your not even our age so why should we be your friends." Knight looked towards the voices and noticed a
group of a few teenagers. He moved closer and noticed that they were surrounding a young fox girl about
fourteen or fifteen who looked like she was on the verge of crying. "Just because you think your special being
a sophomore you think your better then us." said the same venomous voice that seemed to be coming from a
rather attractive lynx female with large breasts and streaked blond hair, a large panther male stood behind her
grinning idiotically as she continued her onslaught of putdowns. Beside the two of them a hyena chick laughed
at the fox and shoved her. "your boobs or not even grown in yet you try to act so adult." She said as the
young fox began to tear up. "oh poor baby going to cry." called the panther in a tough guy voice as he shoved
her back toward the hyena. Knight teeth clenched as he watched the group anger quickly forming in the pit of
his stomach. He was usually one to mind his own business but something about this scene made him grow bold
and stride toward the group not worrying about using his cane on the soft snow. "Oi if your going to pick
someone do it on someone your own size." he said rather angrily as the group turned toward him the panther
cracking his knuckles already seeing a new target for abuse. "What's this some blind chump thinking he can take
me on." said the panther his cold brown eyes staring at Knight who stared back his gray blue eyes showing
his hate. "No a blind chump who knows that the police station is just around the corner and who has a cell
phone if any idiot of a panther touches me or the girl again and that's only if I decide I don't deck him
first." he hissed back as he gripped his cane not letting his eyes off the panther. The panther looked at him
for a few moments obviously weighing his options "Tch whatever lets go Trevor." said the lynx before the male
had a chance to decide as she walked off the hyena girl fallowing her talking angrily. "Stupid fatass."
Trevor said as he shoulder checked Knight and walked off. "Wait for me girls." Knight stood there for a moment
before sighing walking towards the young girl offering a paw. "You ok there?" he asked softly as the young
girl nodded and took his paw and he pulled her up her onto her feet her face fur was still streaked with
tears. Knight looked over her softly and frowned to himself as he noticed that the fox's jacket was ripped,
her backpack would need its straps sewn together again, it also seemed that the lynx had slapped her or
otherwise hit her as a soft bruise could already be seen beneath her orange and white fur and her pants
seemed to be covered in snow. Knight pulled off his backpack and searched inside for a moment grabbing the new box of wet naps he had bought himself pulling one out and offering it to the young fox. "Here wipe yourself off and tell me why those assholes thought it be a good thing to hurt you." he said softly as the young girl took
the wet nap and wiped her face fur off. "there...just assholes.." She said softly trying to straighten herself
up. Knight watched her as she did and he admitted to himself that she was pretty cute. She had bright green
eyes and long orange hair tied in a ponytail and even though she was covered in heavy clothes he could tell
she had a thin figure and that she was around four foot eleven or something like that as he had too look down
at her. "Th...Thank you..." she said softly her voice was still shaky as she wiped off her tears. "No
worries" Knight said as he gave her a moment to recuperate herself as he grabbed her bag from the ground and
offered it to her. "My names Knight what's yours?" The young fox grabbed her bag and looked up at him. "Tera."
She said very softly as she held her backpack to her chest and looked down." thank you again....Knight."
Knight smiled softly and patted her softly on head. "No worries no one should be bullied by assholes like
that." he said with a grin as he turned to get back to walking home. "Wait." Tera said grabbing his free paw
with her own. "um...would you mind walking me home?" she asked softly looking up at him. Knight was about too say something until he saw her eyes looking up at him. "Damn it I'm a big softie." he thought to himself as his
heart melted and he nodded. "Oh ok were do you live?" he said smiling softly. "Down the road in the apartment
complex." she explained not letting go of the large males paw and Knight eyes lit up for a second. "You mean
your the guys who moved in a few weeks ago?"
