This commission for Silvermane ended up as the cover for Anthrozine, the March/April 2010 issue.
It pre-dates Robot Unicorn Attack though... everyone assumes it's a reference.
Naturally.
Apparently it's a "Neo" an android with flexible silver skin, a mechanical endoskeleton, and a blue biotech muscle structure that's the primary animation system, all driven by a ball of fizzing blue mental energy.

It's quite derivative. There's elements of the Crysis Nano-suits, a little from Masamune Shirow's illustration work... It took a long time to detail, but it was worth it.

Details make the picture. When I seen this piece it reminded me of a piece of a mech uni i drew up for fun battling a flesh and blood one. Sadly I have lost it in the shuffle of moving. The thing is i like is the muscle work and the cable system of it all...spectacular!
