For the past 17+ years I've been working on a huge fan-fic using the Harvey characters. I admit I did not use their comic book adventures as these are very juvenile, but I wrote my own history and stories of Casper, Wendy, Spooky, Poil, Nightmare,Hot Stuff, etc. . Richie Rich got used, too, but to a far lesser extent. Baby Huey got used, but I could do just so much with an infantile character. I added some OCs such as Nospher (wasn't able to do much with him), Terry Belle, evil versions of the heroes from a parallel reality, ...., Casper the Friendly Magician and other reverse counterparts from another parallel reality, Maximillian Earnest (Wendy's father)
Though I did progressively well in 10 books, the 11th was a struggle. CASPER IN WONDERLAND , CASPER IN OZ and THE THIRD LIFEFORM (A CasperXAstroBoy crossover) were at the peak of my phase (7th and 8th books).By the 11th book, I was struggling with burn-out and it shows.
Casper is chronicled as having been on the payroll at Harvey, whereas Homer the Happy worked at Marvel, prior to it using SuperHeroes again, and Timmy the Timid having worked at Charlton comics, and their disappearance, along with Lou, Casper's earlier girlfriend, is explained in DOMDANIEL DAZE (9th book).
I have some revisions in mind, but whether I'll ever have the energy to edit them in.... I found after abandoning cartooning some 17+ years ago, I no longer can do it !

That's an incredible amount of work. I can understand experiencing some burnout after a tenth book! That's huge that you've completed so many stories. You're right, huge fan-fic. I don't know if I'd have the time to conquer reading all that with my busy schedule, but I might take a peak if time permits me. I find I don't have much time to read these days. And that is a problem because I have to find the time to write the guide to the Tarot deck and I just don't know where to spin that time from. I've tried not sleeping, but the sleep deprevation hallucinations tell me I should keep up a regular slumber schedule :P

As of now, I've downed pen -for good- on fan-fiction. The muse has departed. Over months, I've made attempts, but the most I can do are summaries now, and narrative depth and such escapes me. I finally gave up...
