The beautiful Golden Beast, a lonely Tierian on Death row... He had been through 2 years of Cadet choosings, and had still been left in the darkness of the Reserve stable. Unfortunately, his laziness and lack of spirit kept him back from even the lowest of hauling jobs, and his transfer paperwork to the Surface auction had been all but finalized.
He was soon moved to a quarantine sector in preparation for his transfer, and the realization finally began to sink in... The possibility of being sold for meat had grown more than he knew, and death row was upon him.
He sat in the dark stall and contemplated his future... Would he ever truly see and feel the surface agai--
The door swung open, and two nervous cadets walked down the isle.
"Do you think we're even allowed to choose from this section?" one stated as they swung a foot up to catch a stool near one of the first stalls and take a peek.
"Well, there are supposed to be 600 to choose from, and I only counted 550." She stopped near one of the stalls, using her arms to hoist herself up high enough to see beyond the stall door. " This has to be the missing 50 from the open stable."
"You can't be positive,"Waiting for his eyes to focus in the low light, he stared off to the back end of the seemingly empty stall. "I don't even see anything in these stalls." His impatience got the best of him and he jumped down to check yet another stall.
Still peering back into the first stall she checked, her eyes began to focus. "Hey, there's one in here--" BAMM-- she immediately fell back as the beast leaped up and rammed the door!
BAMM!--BAM-CHING....
She hit the ground hard, the wind knocked right out. Her friend immediately ran to her side, he could see the angry beast now looming over them from just beyond its unhinged stall door.
Thinking as fast as he could, he lifted her enough to throw her to the side yelling, "Run, It's LOOSE!" -but before he had time to turn back, the beast thrashed forward, using her broad, bony head to slam him to the other side of the isle.
"KODY!!--" She scremed upon taking her first labored breath. But she looked on in horror as the beast lunged straight for him--
Half unconscious and unable to even see his attacker, he closed his eyes and attempted to cover his head in anticipation of the next bone breaking blow. He heard her jump forward, and braced himself for what he knew was coming, But as if it were a dream, he was suddenly floating above the crazed beast! His vision faded in and out to darkness as he tried to move. 'Am I dead?" he thought... 'Was that it?' He looked down to see his friend running toward the beast, but he was unable to call out to her. All sound was gone, he watched from his surreal perch as what had happened to him now played out before him once again... until-- CRACK! a flash of gold, and the beast jumped back...
She looked on as this golden beast continued to challenge their attacker. Kody, near lifeless, hanging from his glinting gold and black jaws.--
Small exert from an ongoing story introducing this character. The next part of this scene might be on the next commission.
This is Alexander, Kody/ ~Darksoul-wolf's bonded Tierian Mount. His body style makes him a good candidate for a surface hunting class, but that remains to be decided.
