This is entirely done using the watercolor tool (with the exception of the stars) on Microsoft Paint.
It depicts Aykho, the eponymous hero of the 1957 Russian animated short film "The Brave Little Deer" (Храбрый олененок), as he looks up towards the aurora borealis; an inspiration from a very similar scene mentioned in the film.
