Field Operative Log,

"Dear Journal,

I love my job. Well so far. I've been a field operative for a few centuries now and I've really got a feel for it. Going around from place to place, gathering genetic samples of people and animals and all that. Not to mention planting little ideas here and there. Occasionally encouraging one group or another to do this or that. Last assignment had me getting a group of Neanderthal and Human together. It's apparently important we get just the right amount into what will be the European population. Seems the genes will eventually give way to a resistance to the plague in Europe at the time. Well resistance in some of them anyway. Want just the right number getting through it. See this is what I call competence. Here it is 33,000 BC and we're laying the ground work for something that won't pay off for millenia. Long term investment I guess. Anyway it just feels good to know I'm writing a history that will eventually have a....well rosey is too condescending. It won't be paradise but still. That and apparently if we didn't ensure history like this things would go very badly wrong. Like Nuclear winter wrong. Can't wait till we get to that era. Actually wait scratch that. I do like using my "magic" Heh. One of the perks to being immortal and having latent mental ability. I guess we'll be phasing out the use of it as we get into recorded history. Taking a lighter hand with things. But come on who doesn't like waving a staff with lil light globe inside it around and working some hocus pocus? I mean generally it's a good way to impress a crowd. Guess I'll have to work on other showmanship stuff. But for now I'm heading back to base. Nice relaxing stay there for a while before the next assignment. Hopefully I can catch up with Orin. Do miss him. I do get his messages though. Nice closing my eyes at night and reading em before drifting off to sleep. Kinda like when he tucked me in when I was little. Maybe Orin's why I always feel at east with Neanderthals. That and the fact I'm like a fourth Neanderthal. Orin says I'm handsome enough though to be able to blend in through history though. Heh.
