I got inspired to make a silly bookmark. Not a great scan, but that's what you get. Perhaps I'll get it laminated and turn it into something AWESOME.

*Sits down in front of her- "Tell me a story!" *the filly sits down with a smile on her face to listen-

Such a cute picture, Flamey some times draws and uses colored pencil for coloring but the scanner destroys how good it looks. Do you have any recommendations ?

Thank you!

As for advice: the long version is that the texture of coloured pencils is such that a very fine technique is required, with smudging/blending, and then you still need sophisticated post-scan software filters to bring it out halfway decent. I've struggled with that for ages.

This picture actually involves water and watercolour cardstock. That way, it's both fun, and doesn't require as much technique. You'd need the right pencils for that, of course. Talens or Prismacolour watercolour pencils would be two recommendations if you wish to try this, but of course you'll also need watercolour paper (Canson: expensive but readily available and out of sketchbook form, Moleskine: unrivaled quality/price) and a good, small brush to apply a little (no more than enough to make it a little wet) water with and blend colours.

The short version is that coloured pencils will not scan well. You'll have to accept that it won't be good and aim for making everything else so good that it won't be too jarring. I feel your pain.

Thank you so much for the advice, i will defiantly  have Flamey look into it, we will have to take a trip to the art store, I really prefer his traditional works to his digitals as they come out so very nice but when they get scanned in they loose most of what makes them awesome. Least im lucky and have them IRL to have, but we want to share high quality with others !

Thank you so very much for taking your time to explain that for us ! :)
