Shelly calmed her breathing, but just barely. After a long pause, she took a deep breath. "You used to be mean to everybody you met at school. They even had a nickname for you: Scary Carrie. Well, there was another kid who nobody liked for the same reason. Me." She sniffed angrily. "I watched as you completely turned everything around- made friends, built a pack, became partners with Natalie- everything went right for you! But you know who's in my pack?" She bit her lip. "Nobody!"
"Wait... what??" Carrie blinked, completely off balance.
"I can never keep friends for more than a few months, because eventually they all say the same thing- that I'm horrible, and mean, and that I don't care! But I do... I do care..." She let out a few squeaky sobs. "Why does nobody believe me...?"
You really should put aside a few hours and do so, the first book is complete(and awesome, so very awesome), and the second book is a couple chapters in so far and equally good.
