's character Lokor, relaxing with a book and a cup of hot chocolate on some evening near Christmas. It's my entry for a Christmas-themed art exchange, and I hope
likes it! Never having drawn this character before, I had only a reference to go on.
I started out thinking about [icon]Pensive[/icon]'s amazing inking style ... I can only describe it as using both sides of a line. What I ended up with wasn't what I started out with, though. I started out with super fat lines and erased them down to what I wanted. I noticed then that they were looking kind of like an old-fashioned woodcut. But rather than change it, I decided to run with that, so there are a lot of places where the lines stayed messy and little bits of missed extra "ink" are left lying around here and there, on purpose. It may not be as easy to see here as in the full-sized original, I suppose, but I'm sure you can tell things aren't quite the same as usual. I experimented a lot with this one. This is the line art, over in my scraps, if you want to see just that.
Lokor has finished decorating for Christmas and has a nice warm fire going in the fireplace, and now he's settling down to read a book and have some hot chocolate with marshmallows. Yummmm. :)
Art is (c) me. Lokor belongs to
