This place is known as Torry Battery. I'm not too sure of the history behind it, but it's now a ruin. Rather sadly, it's usually inhabited by drunks and there's a broken glass strewn about, and I had to photoshop out a considerable amount of graffiti that would have otherwise ruined the photo.
In the background you can see the Scottish Saltire, or St. Andrews Cross, on the flag pole.
