you will be deeply missed.

LeBeau never got better, and has left us today, by my own hand...  It was only a matter of time now, and circumstances made it so this was the best thing to do.  It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but it ended his pain.

I had to choose to put a fifteen years old cat to sleep several years ago, I feel your pain. :(

I had to deal with family pets being euthanized before, and it's really hard.  But with a fish, I had to do it myself.  Even if he was "just a fish", he was my friend.  Thanks to him I discovered a passion for fish that I didn't know I had, and he had such a great personality... I used to think of pet fish as "living decoration" but I'm ashamed I ever thought that now.  I really hope I can keep the next one healthy so this won't have to happen again.

I've done things wrong, and as a result this happened.  And the pain caused from the loss is nothing against the fact that this fish could have had a better life without my mistakes.  I know part of it is my fault, even though I did all I could to fix it.

As one who lost my betta as well, i can safely say this. Regardless of species, any time you take an animal in your home, they become family and they are irreplaceable contrary to what your parents tell you. This was true for my Brazilian Terrier as well. Not only was she smart, but she had expressed human qualities in her personality. The day i had to give her away and later find out she was poisoned by her new owner's spiteful neighbor, i couldn't leave my room for days. Tore our whole family apart.

Mhmh.  Taking care of them and having them be there to listen, even if they can't reply, it's something that's special..
It's awful that someone would do something like this...

orz I don't understand how people can hurt animals.  Any of them.
I'm literally unable to hurt a fly.  I can't stand killing anything at all(which only made today worse).  And I really don't understand when people can hurt animals like dogs or cats.  They're pets.  They're intelligent, and are only looking for love from their owner.  And when they get it, they trust them.  Mostly with dogs, if they meet good people, they'll believe every human is nice... so it's really horrible...

The only killing of animals i'd allow is for food/survival or if their condition is too hard for them to bear (Through euthanasia).
But yes. this is why i regret giving her away, especially when i found out later the place I lived in had allowed dogs. (I was told differently by mean leasing agents there)

We had to give away our pet rat once, because the guy where we lived said that NO PET AT ALL was allowed.
He then proceeded to keep his mom's dog in the apartments for months.

Luckily we were able to find him a place to go, or we would have had to let him outside or get him euthanized orz

Worse feeling ever. My last dog past away about 11 years ago. She died in my arms. I had a hard time controlling my feelings, that I had to leave the animal hospital before bawling my eyes out. She was a fun little Lhasa Apso.

that must be really harsh.... But you're pretty strong for being able to take the time to leave.

Sorry for your loss. '^'
We had to put down our smallest oldest dog Scrappy back in February. She didn't even get the main shot, they gave her a sedative to let her sleep so she can go peacefully, and she just passed from that...-^' It left me feeling so empty inside for the next few following weeks.

It was a peaceful death, then.  If she passed away from the sedative, probably it was her time to go.  It's never easy to let a pet go.  They take a good part of our lives.

I do sympathize also. I have lost a number of pets myself, cats, dogs, fish, even horses (though they were sold as opposed to dying.) One, I am pretty sure was cruelly murdered ignorantly by my own hand as a child, though I didn't know at the time and wept bitterly when I realized what I had done. Even today long after he would have died of old age I feel guilt and sadness at my own stupidity. The only good that can come from it, and I know this is why grandparents love their grandchildren, is that you can get another and welcome it into your home. I am sure that would ease your longing. I wish you peace of heart and soul.

I won't have an other fish for a while.  I'll be getting better equipment for it, so I'll be sure that once in my home, he'll be happy and will be able to live a long, healthy life.
