So I've never really done one of these before, and I honestly didn't think I'd do one this year either. I've always thought these things were to show how much you've improved over a year, and from my own judgement I felt I haven't made noticeable improvements in my art. My interest in art is kind of wide spread and possibly a bit skewed; I don't do a full painting the same way every time each month. I tend to value a solid sketch more than an overly detailed painting. I like to try different things, and because of this I imagine I'm not improving upon one technique. Maybe that's just an excuse though, haha.
I'd like to think instead I've improved in other ways; time management, productivity, workflow, perhaps even understanding colour and composition just a little bit better. Maybe that's missing the point in a visual review, but I think that's where I've probably improved the most this year.
I drew a lot more this year, I think, in contrast to previous years. In saying that, though, I didn't draw and produce as much as I would have liked. I started late this year producing more work that I had wanted to, and I hope to push that further next year. I embraced comics this year, also, even if it's not apparent anywhere online, or in this review. Fingers crossed I can get at least a few of my comics finished up and put out there.
So here's to another year past, and new one full of possibilities coming up. Thank you everyone for all the comments, watches, shouts and support along the way. I hope you'll enjoy whatever crazy, creative endeavours otterface and I end up pursuing!
