Fish Study 3
From 2003, an even older Holiday Card with much hand coloring.  The UPC is fictitious.

As you can see, the puns go back a ways.  Mags Katzenfeld and James StinCoy (a precursor to my persona Justin StinCoy) demonstrate just how dangerous a pun can be.

This reminds me so much of the visual puns from the Codex Seraphinianus... :)

Heard of it, but not familiar with it... At least the Codex I have, so I get alot of inspiration from it. :)

It's a series of light fantasy novels by Piers Anthony which is literally littered with puns, many of which are essential to whatever plot is going on.  It was originally meant to be a trilogy, but being the self-admitted ogre lousy with math, he's now working on the eighth novel of the second "trilogy" (ie. Xanth #35).

Thanks about telling me about the Codex.  It looks interesting. :p

You can google for a PDF of it- It's about 51MB- 320-some pages, most of which are in an unreadable language, but the art is well worth the download. :) It's one weird book, some is funny, some nightmarish, some "eh", but the visual puns and recurring motifs make it a fun book. :)

Sounds like it's worth a try.  The more sources for wacky and wild ideas, the better. :p

And MUCH cheaper than what I paid for for the actual book... :)
