Okay, so maybe I'm not in such a terrible block after all. Even though I can still barely work on all the requests I owe people, I've managed to start two personal projects over the weeks. You get to see how they look like now, after several days, or even several weeks of work.
The first one is obviously for myself and my boyfriend. I had intended to finish it in time for his birthday... in December 2009. Ack. You can see how well I did with that.
Second one is more recent and features my characters, Ryin'Lor (right) and Dar'Han (left). I already see a big flaw in it, in that Dar seems larger than Ryin, while it was meant to be the opposite (Ryin should be about three inches taller than Dar, and have a toned body where Dar is really slim).
These two pictures, I guess, were to me exercises meant to get me acquainted more with poses and interactions between bodies (get your minds of the gutter please!).
As I look at them, I'm thinking my next step should be "less boring camera angles PLZ." I also keep thinking that my beginning to use construction lines - instead of my older go-by-feel technique - has been both the best and the worst thing that ever happened to my artistic style. The best in that my characters now (hopefully) have correct proportions and acceptable poses, and the worst in that I now spend too much time correcting and not enough advancing.
I feel like a centipede who knew how to walk, but decided to learn how to walk better... so he ended up walking better but completely forgot how to do it without having to put all of his concentration in it, just like he used to do before. Ugh, I'm ranting.
Anyway, enjoy these half-finished half-sketches born out of an unsatiated desire to hug someone I love .
