I'd say leave it as is. The overwhelming emotion of this picture is amplified by its older, sepia-type tone. You can feel the anguish of brothers and sisters lost in battle, and of family and loved ones taken to early before their time.

The problem with bringing out the heavy weaponry backup, is that it doesnt distinguish freind and foe, it just obliterates the combat zone.

The shading in the face its pretty good! just like an 3D soft shading, you are good at it :D
