One of my friend was lucky enough to get non-territorial betta too!  Too bad most of them will kill each others if they're together :c

Well, the funny thing was, they were territorial, and they would often fight each other. Until one day, i missplaced the slider to sepeate the betta, and they just got along. When one of my betta passed away, the other was lonely and didn't take long before he too passed.

I miss having Bettas. I don't have the money to get back into the thick of things and get a proper setup like I used to, but I don't want to have a little 1-gallon fishbowl either, since it's not fair to the fish.

Back in the day, I even tried my hand at breeding, but that didn't quite work out so well. The eggs never hatched, sadly. I think one of my two may have been infertile.

I really want to try breeding one day!  But that won't be before I move out and get more space...

Yeah, it takes a pretty good setup. You have to let the male and female court each other for a couple of days, with a divider so that they don't fight. The water temperature and pH have to be within a certain range, and you have to get a special type of food for the babies to eat. Not to mention that the male stays and tends the nest and the babies for the first few days before you have to remove him and put him back in his regular tank. Then you have to maintain the big tank for the babies, slowly filling it up with more water as you raise the level, and making sure to keep it clean without accidentally having the little guys sucked up in a filter.

lots of work, but would be worth it for these cuties

Oh, definitely. Of course, you'd need to find people to buy/take the little ones once they're big enough to be sold. Otherwise you'd have around 40 or so fishies to take care of. Granted, with a really big tank, you could keep several females together no problem.

yeah ; 3; I wouldn't want the lil guys to be stuck with me when they could have a good home all for themselves!

A community tank would be nice!  Those require at least 5 females.

I've actually had a community tank with three female bettas, a plecostomus, a corydora, a snail, and a couple of mollies. That was my biggest setup I had, and it was actually rather nice. All it needed was a plant to be complete.

ahh that sounds like it'd be a nice tank! ; 3;  I like plants.  But the one I had kind of.. got all mushy an gross and had to be taken out :c
