Portrait of Lord Karl
Lord Karl von Bernerholdt, the lead character of my Swiss Mix stories. Drawn freehand with Manga Studio 5 and a Wacom Bamboo tablet. I'll be working with this some more, to add shading and texture detailing, as the base reference picture for Lord Karl.

(Update: Got the shading and highlights finished on the eyes, so they look more 'alive' now.)

It's the eyes.

Yeah, I think that without the shading and highlights, it does make the eyes look rather dead. Hopefully the next stage will improve that.

yeah please fix that before I have nightmares again...maybe fire the painter....heck make that a plot point or a line where Karl looks at his painting and says, "Uh Dear....I do believe the painter painted me to look dead...." just have him confused by it or something

The eyes should look much better now. I did the shading and highlights on them.

a little better, but he just seems a bit off still.....I don't know why....

Possibly because I used a very animal-like eye, with virtually no white showing?

huh, that makes sense, without the white, the eyes just look off, don't know why

The eyes look kind of... off. Just... off.
