This is a scan/reprint (with full permission) of a story I wrote for Midnight Graffiti Magazine back in 1990, appearing in the same issue with Harlan Ellision, KW Jeter and David Gerrold. This is perhaps my greatest writer cred I can produce to date and may ever produce, all based on 212 words I typed in a letter to the magazine just as a fan blurb - totally unsolicited (NOTE: This is NOT the way to get things published!).
I received a $40 check for this, making me a legitimately professional writer, and probably earning the highest newbie dollar-per-word pay scale than anyone before or since. I think I still have photocopies of the paycheck as trophies of my early achievement filed away with the magazine.
If someone would like to color this comic, the Magazine's editor would enjoy seeing it done - if you'd want to be paid for the effort, they might publish depending on your talent in which case you should go directly through their web site. If instead you color yourself privately, simply PM me and I can post it here with their permission assuming you'll allow me to link it here and they will like to include the colored version on their web site when that's done.
NOTE: I did not create this image, only the text. The copyright owner has given me reprint permission for posting here, with knowledge aforehand of and with consent, even with an invitation for artists to color this image (for a stipend, contact them directly).
