Character Sheet for Rutherford
Character Description
As a Selenian dragon, Rutherford possesses a few notable abilities at his disposal. Of course, he has the toughness, strength and powerful claws common to all dragons, along with a form of dragon breath - in Rutherford's case, charged plasma.
Selenian dragons are natural psychics, owing to the Moon's environment; in fact, the Selenians supposedly learned to use psychic powers from them. Rutherford has only begun to explore the extent of his powers, the most important one being the psychic repulsion field that acts as a defence system, "rejecting" attacks on his integrity - both physical and mental.
Rutherford's a pretty fast flier but he prefers to walk, especially on Earth, where he needs a lot more effort to fly when compared to the Moon. After coming down, he's found a new favorite mode of travel in swimming. There aren't any large bodies of water in the Moon, but the muscular body of Selenian dragons proved itself well suited for water locomotion anyway. The scarlet markings on his body (along with his wings and eyes) are reflective, so they appear to glow under dim lighting. When forcing his powers to the limit, the star on his chest actually starts to glow, and expands into a lozenge-shaped "eye" with a black ring in the middle.
Personality
Rutherford is not very well-versed in Earthly customs, or in the subtler points of social interaction. He is blunt and honest about his feelings, and is prone to sounding crass.
Being aware of his limitations, he gets over-cautious around new people. Mostly, that translates into being shy and nonthreatening. Once trust sets in, he reveals himself to be a sociable and affectionate fellow.
He has a huge, gaping weak spot for anything cute. Be it small animals, children, creatures of all sizes and shapes, if it's huggable he will hug it. He believes this will one day be the death of him, but he'd rather die happy.
His biggest fault is a lack of patience which also makes him fast to anger. Betrayal and injustice make him fly off the handle spectacularly, and earn whoever is responsible a tenacious enemy.
Of all things, his greatest fear is loneliness, which reminds him of his life on the Moon. With his craving for closeness and physical contact, he has a tendency to be clingy at times.
Background/History
He was born on the Moon of a solitary egg inside a crater. As with most dragons, he didn't know who his parents were. The Selenians who lived nearby taught him languages and civilization, but didn't stick long enough to teach him the more subtle aspects of social interaction. He spent most of his time alone in the vast wilderness of the Moon's light side. Eventually, Rutherford became convinced that he would have better luck on Earth, the beautiful gem he saw in the sky and about which he heard so much wondrous tales. He hitched a ride in a flying saucer, which landed on the Shining City floating on Earth's upper atmosphere. There he met Gruziya, and thus started their adventures.
World/Setting
The Moon in this setting is inhabited. The Selenians* live on the dark side of the moon, away from Earthling eyes. They're a civilization with advanced technology and who use psionics extensively in order to communicate with their own machines.
*as they prefer to be called instead of Lunarians - Lunatics is right out.
Clothing
His preferred attire while on Earth is a pair of pants and nothing else, not even underwear (he claims he can't find any that feels comfortable). They're fitted with an elastic band instead of a belt. His most used pairs are plain black, but he also likes to experiment with colors and patterns from time to time.
