Raph really really really really REALLY wants to be the great heroic leader. He really wants to be the great protector of his family. Really.
But...Leo's just better at that job, and everyone including Raph know it.

I seems to have gotten the impression that Raph never wanted to be the leaser... he just doesn't like being led :P But he's learned the hard way sometimes that if a group of 4 is going to function like a lean green machine, then someone has to take the lead! "Vigilante" doesn't rhyme with "team"...
