I remade his character in the Japanese classic Sonic artwork style, after all, he IS part of a website called Sonic Retro, so it only makes sense to have a retro-looking depiction of his character! To replicate the gradients used on the classic Sonic artwork, I used the regular Photoshop brush but with a lot of variation on its hardness.
If you compare to an artwork of classic Tails, you'll see that, although they're similar, I re-shaped a bunch of its features to make it look more cat-ish. The size of his snout is smaller, the fur on his muzzle is less fuzzy, he has Amy Rose-like hair, his ears are bigger and way different, his tail is smaller... The problem is that most of these changes are features in the MODERN Tails design, so it still bears a noticeable resemblance to Tails :X Still, me and Tweaker designed new clothes, new shoes and debated features to include or not to make it look more like a character of its own.
Anyway, I'm proud of how it came out! Thinking of redrawing a couple of characters in classic Sonic style, in fact!
