More character designs for my story. They are the noble protectors of Armageddon Ark, the main city that is also the title of my comic project. (:3=
From left to right, they are Sgt. Matvei (gorilla), Sgt. Markus (lion), Cpt. Konstantin (tiger), Sgt. Vanya (bald eagle) and Sgt. Lyuk (musk ox).
Matvei, Markus, Vanya and Lyuk's names are the Russian equivalents of the Four Evangelists (Matthew, Mark, John and Luke respectively), which are traditionally represented by a human, a lion, an eagle and a bull which, in turn, symbolize Reason, Courage, Vision and Sacrifice.
About Konstantin (Russian equivalent of Constantine), he takes his name from Constantine the Great (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constantine_I), the first Christian Roman emperor. Since Konstantin is the highest rank member of the Ark Guard, I saw it as a fitting name. Besides, Constantine the Great is kind of a symbol for Reform and Controversy, something that Konstantin will be no stranger to.
What's up with the Russian names? Well, these guys are inspired in the Russian Spetsnaz (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spetsnaz), who are a bunch of bad mothers. (:3=
And about the background... well, it's basically a proof of concept for the look I want for Armageddon Ark, heavily inspired on Metropolis (Fritz Lang's movie, not Otomo's), one of my favorite movies ever. (:3=
