I'm working on a cyborg claw based on the WarHammer 40K Ork Power Klaws
these are my preferred costume piece for the bunny cyborg space pirate costume
In the first part of the construction you see the basic materials, dollar store cookie sheets, mini camera tripod legs, a couple rulers and some tin snips
The snips had a rougher time cutting the cheap sheets then I had thought but one used stripes to reinforce the rollers and cut pieces I'd use later to hold the fingers
I cut out 9 pieces (3 each ) for the fingers and 3 for the thumb from my cloroplast before gluing them together into four digits. I therefore used packing tape along the edges to make them seem like one single piece.
I then used dollar store cutting mats cut to match each side of the fingers hot glued in place to seal the tape
I bolted the the tripod legs to the frame, and drilled the hinge points on the fingers. I used bottled water caps as spacers between each finger before slowing them into place and bolting down the final framing piece.
Paw internal construction. I attached the springs and have the each claw connected to a ring I can pull to contract the claw.
I have the claw mounted in the rough shell. the face plate is only loosely attached, I didn't want to make it permanent until after I have painted the claw and shell.
Here I am testing out my new claws with my uper arm.
there has been some slight changed to it since my last post. I shortened the springs, and shaved my claw slots for ease of movement.
In my finished costume I'll be wearing black under armor to blend the seems a little better.
Ohh and just a bit of info the arm is fairly sturdy It can lift a a full 16 ounce water bottle and if it had the traction it would have been able to carry the on litter one as well
