Once Upon A Time is a card game where you try telling a fairy tale given the cards you are dealt. Each player is also dealt an ending card, which is the end you must work towards reaching. If you manage to get rid of all your cards and play your ending card, you've won! However, all the other players are also trying to tell their own fairy tales and reach their own ending, and will be constantly hijacking the story. Fun and bad storytelling ensues.
You can buy blank cards for the game which you can illustrate yourself, and I got the idea to try getting a few (mostly) babyfur themed ones made for myself. A project I've given the snappy title Once Upon A Nursery. I'll try to bring these along to any conventions or babyfur meets I attend (not that I attend very many) in case people want to play.
If you are an artist and you're comfortable with babyfur themed drawings, and think this sounds like a fun project you'd like to contribute to, feel free to get in touch! Be warned that the cards are fairly small, and the surface is slick and can be tricky to draw on.
Now, for the story behind this particular batch...
My friend :linktraxswe: went to Confuzzled this year, while I did not. To help reduce any potential envy I might feel, and to feel somewhat "included" in the festivities, and because I love presents, I asked him to get me something nice while at the convention. I also asked a number of other furs attending to remind him to buy me something nice; I think around four or five furs, in the end, ended up reminding him. (The idea was also to help him meet a few new furs that way.)
Anyway, his planned gift was to get a few custom cards for Once Upon A Nursery for me! But unfortunately, he ended up using the Happily Ever After cards by mistake. So I'm not entirely sure whether or not I can use them, since they will rather stand out from the other cards, but possibly! A few might be fun to use as proper, slightly odd ending cards though, but they would probably confuse people who haven't ever played the game before. Regardless, it was a very sweet gift, though it's a real shame about the mistake.
