Back in march '2008 when I was still a http://www.redlobo.net admin, we decided to turn the site from a lame forum with little else to a full-featured Post-nuke portal with many features and a totally customized interface. Spain's furry community was growing a lot, so it was time for us to make the 'big move'.
and myself spent almost 4 days in a row working our asses off to get the new site running, while keeping the old forum's messages and such.
s-cheetah, of course, couldn't miss the chance to help us along with the 'under construction' pictures while the site was down.
So we used these two in the order you see here. The first one was actually controversial xD Because as you can see, it featured us three admins being scorted by typical spanish military policemen, and the logo was crossed with policial precint bands.
Many people contacted us in MSN, FA and such thinking that the site had been closed by the police and that we had got arrested! xD It was something quite crazy, mostly considered that 'drama' was still something that hadn't happened in the spanish fandom yet!
The pic also featured milgazia, saying 'Rowlf? I don't get it...'. He's a very wide-known spanish fur, from the 'beginning of times' with a very peculiar way of seeing things. A very nice guy with a good sense of humor that sometimes got himself involved in some drama, but he's still out and kickin' :)
Finally, the first pic had the classical text that goes: "You have the right to remain silent. Any 'nyic nyic' or 'yiff yiff' you say or do can and will be used against you"
So yeah, even though the pic was obviously humoristic, it caused such a worry in part of the fandom that we had to replace it for the second one soon after! xD
In that one, the 'inside joke' was related to an old spanish comedy series called 'Hands at work' (here labeled 'Paws at work') about a couple of masons/bungler kind of guys. One of their recurrent lines was 'Do the mixture without java' (don't ask, I never saw the original series that much).
People understood that we were just working on the site by then xD
Actually, Java should be universal and work everywhere! But I don't know exactly what's this joke's final meaning. I'll make sure to speak with 'S' about it next time I see him! :)
