What a paper-thin excuse!” Heart exploded at the purple Changeling, scuffing her hoof on the ground, ready to buck this sad excuse for a pony right into the wall. “You're not him!”
“I am!” the Changeling cried. “I feed on hate!”
Heart pulled up short, the hoof stopping inches from his face. “What do you mean, you feed on 'hate'?!”
“I'm saying that I pull the evil out of the souls of other ponies! I'm different from the rest!”
She whipped around, her glasses catching the fading twilight of the sun. There was an audible crackling in the air. Even Earth ponies... maybe especially Earth ponies... are the most dangerous and magical when angry.
“Why should I believe you!”
Crooked Sai backed up into the corner, flattening his wings. From the cave entrance, other ponies slowly began walk in as the light died. Heart's eyes scanned the crowd, recognizing from among them, friends in common, family...
“No...”
Tears in her eyes, she fled the cavern into the woods, the twisted forest and her coat heating up as her hooves struck roots and rocks. Splinters and burrs tangled up in her uncut fetlocks and her tail ripped itself to pieces. Inside, something began to happen her, something dark and evil.
Something familiar.
“Nooooooo!”
A howl of agony rose up into the night and the Changeling army increased itself by another number that day.
“And that, my pretties, is how I became your queen,” Heart sighed to her young, cradling the grubs in her magical pink field. Their blue eyes sparkled with admiration. Their father, another drone, laid chained behind her helplessly, a love of bliss on his face. He volunteered to die for their cause, to increase the numbers of the swarm.
Heart would use him, drain him, and move on while her antithesis, the Lord of the Purple Blight Crooked would continue infiltrating Ponyville. Once the white one fell, the Changeling she assigned to place Princess Luna would marry King Sombra and the rest of Equestria would fall...
“The only one I have to worry about are the pink and blue one,” Heart muttered darkly. “How can an Earth pony and a pegasus have so much power? I can corrupt the unicorns but I don't know how to break apart the bond formed between those two.”
“If I may, your queen?” Vrex offered with a bow. The Nightguard batpony walked into the room with piercing yellow eyes and a toothy smile.
“It's been a while, hasn't it?”
“... Three days, my lady,” Vrex grumbled. “A whole three days.”
“Oh, I'm sorry. I do lose track of the time. It seems like a lot longer.”
“I've missed your company too, my Queen,” Vrex purred. “Let's enlist the alicorn of wisdom, Golden Harmony, and kill them all. Revenge will be sweet indeed.”
