Came up with an idea for a bit of a fantasy universe with scifi elements mixed in and admittedly a lil inspiration drawn from an idea of Chinook's Scifi stuff. ^^

Alvander Silverseak waited on the stone bridge on the edge of of one of the nicer mountain side towns as Velar's artificial star shined brightly today. Avander had just just finished clearing some bandits out of a tech cavern a few miles away. From what he could tell it seemed to be a map room. Alvander had seen a few of these. It always astonished him what their world was really like. a giant sphere surrounding an artificial star that dimmed and brightened to a day night cycle. Alvander wondered what lay beyond their world. Only a few had ever made it to Velar's outer most layer where they'd said you could look out a window and see an endless expanse of night dotted by stars. Night on Velar meant a pale night star almost like a moon hanging in the sky. But for now those concerns were elsewhere. He smiled as he saw his Dwarf contact walk out of the nearby building and lifted his sword to him with a smile and a nod.

"The city council thanks you for clearing out the bandits. Here's your payment." He said holding out a bright green gem to Alvander. He took the chem and tapped it to his green wrist band and the gem faded to pale blue before he handed it back to the dwarf.

"Thanks Cosk. I'm gonna go head out to Delvester. I promised a friend there some funds to remodel part of the local orphanage. Plus might help out myself with it. Nice break for hacking things to pieces or frying em with tamed lightening or a round in the chest." Alvander laughed lightly.

"Anyone ever told you that your a boyscout?" Cosk asked crossing his arms with a smile.

"All the time. I take it as a compliment. Sides I've got a soft spot for the kids. I know what it's like to have a rough childhood." Alvander told him looking out over the suburbs in the valley below.

"Speaking of which how's your mother doing? Still getting racked over the coals by the family." Cosk asked.

"Not since the move. The family's largely had nothing to do with her now. Thinking about them and that stupid human purity stuff. I dunno I feel angry about how they took it out on me as a kid but I feel sorry for them for being so stuck in old ways." Alvander sighed as he thought about it.

"Yeah I know. I still wonder how your dad kept his cool. That elf just stood there and let one of your uncles vent hate at him and when it was all over just told him Good Day and left. Man had patience for those types I could never muster." Cosk shook his head at the memory with a smile.

"Yeah. I remember dad always being so soft spoken and kind. Helped me with homework got my magic basics started. Heh. Mrs. Evershine wouldn't have been able to do as much to teach me if dad hadn't laid the ground work. All those memories of him and then that night. Seeing him aglow in magic and the way he dropped those bandits. And then...bang, like a light inside him switched off the glow stopped and he sank to the ground." Alvander said voice growing quieter as he spoke.

"He was a good man." Cosk said patting Alvander on the back.

"Well I should get going. Don't wanna miss the train to Delvester. Drop by sometime Cosk. I know mom would love to see ya again." Alvander smiled warmly.

"Oh alright. Tell her to expect me by in two weeks. I've gotta settle up the power plant issue here before taking time off." Cosk told him unable to say no to the boyish smile that always reminded him so much of the lad's father. "Anyway you have a safe trip."

"I will. See you in a few weeks Cosk." Alvander smiled and gave a wave before starting back off down the path to make his way to the train station.
