This really brings me back. It's my shame forever, but I readily admit it- I loved the shit out of Sailor Moon as a kid. The kooky friend humor, the relationship dramas, the pretty special effects, and the effect it had on me at 11 was... well, I couldn't find a reason not to really like the show. I can still watch it to this day and enjoy it.

That said, those five girls brought me into puberty full force. And yet, I could never just see them for how sexy they were- the cartoon really taught me that women could be extremely attractive and not let this impede upon their finer points. So who better to cosplay as one of them than Noriko, who earns her living making fantasies come true? Some lucky SOB is about to revisit one he had in high school!

This is the shiniest thing I've ever drawn. Squee~ <3

Okay, I feel completely out of touch, but this has been bugging me forever.

What is Sailor Moon?  Is it related to Space Battleship Yamato?  ...What was Space Battleship Yamato beyond the obviousness of a battleship in space?  It's surely an awesome concept, but I'm not too clear on just how they made a torpedoed, capsized, sunk, and disarmed vessel spaceworthy.

Briefly, then...

Yamato was the work of Leiji Matsumoto, who also did Captain Harlock and related series,  Galaxy Express 999 and many others. In Yamato, the Earth was being bombarded with radiation weapons that were slowly killing all humans and preparing the planet for "terraforming" and colonization from another planet. Earth got plans for an FTL drive from a third race that wanted to save us, (for reasons I don't know.) The Yamato was available for retrofitting... mainly I suspect because Matsumoto is Japanese.

At any rate, it has nothing to do with Sailor Moon, which was created by Naoko Takeuchi. That's based on the old Japanese fairy tale The Bamboo Cutter, (aka Princess Kaguya.) A bamboo cutter sees a shining stalk of bamboo which he cuts down and finds a tiny baby within it, whom he raises as his own. In time she grows to be the most beautiful woman in the known world and princes and rich merchants come to woo her, but instead she ascends to the moon because she's really the princess of the moon kingdom and it's time for her to return. Usagi Tsukino, (aka Sailor Moon), is likewise really a princess of the moon kingdom sent to Earth for safety because the kingdom is at war with various evil blah blah blahs. Various bad guys follow Usagi to Earth where she fights them as Sailor Moon with the help of her retinue, Sailors Mercury through Jupiter, (with the rest of the planets joining in later series), and Luna, her little, black, talking cat.

And believe it or not, that was brief!

...brief, and left out Sailor Moon's boyfriend/consort, Tuxedo Mask, also part of her retinue of evil-fighters.

...You know what'd be awesome?  Seeing the other girls from the guild dressed up like the other members of the Sailor Scouts for a group shot. ^^

.....is it odd that I wanted to tap Sailor Mars and Sailor Mercury? I bet that show had a LOT of male fans.

Ah, Sailor Moon. Brought me into anime and my first anime crush... And if she wants to tap me a little harder, I have no problem with it.
