A second attempt at Ein.

Still not satisfied, but this version came out much better than the first.

Ein is a kirin [ Qilin] - A mythical type of Asian Deer. Almost like their equivalency of a Unicorn.

She's 11, and she likes soft serve ice cream. ;3

Tagged General for no implied nudity.

You may not like how she came out, but she's still cute.

Thank you, my friend.

I'm trying to get her fur pattern to look like the Tooth Fairy [Humminbird girl] from Rise of the Guardians. Only a deer.

It's difficult.

Technically, Qilin are more dragons than unicorns or deers. The common depictions show them being coated in scales and wreathed in fire. They do have an equine shape however, hence their title as 'unicorns of the east' when compared to the western unicorns.

You're right.

But all the mythology that I know from my training depicts their closest western relative as deer and similar antelope.

I'm trying to get her fur to look like the Tooth Fairy from Rise of the Guardians.

A difficult task to say the least.

I don't know, making her a deer seems unfitting to me. Qilin have been depicted as giraffes, dragons, even fish have been mixed in, but never any deer, nor antelopes. Their closest western relative would most likely be a horse, as they're perissodacytls, whereas deer are artiodacytls. And that is just in depictions where they don't have dragon claws for feet.

Well. According to the Japanese dude that taught me about them, they most like resemble deers or horses.

They have four legs on cloven hooves and one, two, or even four antlers.

They're so over the place I don't think anyone can really say for certain.

Not all Japanese today know all about their mythology, any more than every Christian knows the Bible (you'll find that most don't...I'm an atheist and I know more about the Bible than ANY Christian I've ever met. That includes priests...). I can assure you they are rarely depicted with cloven hooves. Maybe in pop culture, I don't know about that, but in mythology they rarely have cloven hooves, they either have hooves or dragon-clawed feet. I'm a fantasy author, I've studied most mythologies at length to borrow things that fit.

(Adding to that, the Qilin originated in China, not Japan, the Japanese just borrowed it)

Also, they don't have antlers. Those are supposed to be horns, though they might resemble antlers.

It is true they're all over the place, though, just as western dragons have had wildly varying appearances (and differ even more from most Asian dragons).

The guy that I learned my Japanese from was like in his fifties at the same. Probably in his sixties now, though. It was a long while back.

I think I like her better as a Deer.
