I think in the book they actually had a scene where they had the computer tally how many dinos there were, because they'd only been having it count up to a certain limit to check if any died and weren't trying to figure out how many there actually were, so when they had it do that the number of dinos in the park had risen to, like, a thousand or something, instead of the hundred and a dozen or so they had originally.
