As per my "Facials" journal the other day, I actually sketched, like, all of them on paper, and I'm really pleased with how they ended up looking! Only problem was that I wasn't relaying them into Sai quite the way I wanted to.

So I messed around with some brushes, found one I like, and did a test run on @Pelditz's character, Layla :3 She looks adorably younger than her usual 15-year-old portrayal~

Expect a bunch more like this in the coming days~

Yeah, actually :D That’s what's like about the pencil setting I used. I've been doing a TON of doodles on paper recently with a Dixon Ticonderoga 2HB pencil, and I've been wanting to have something In Said that looks abducted feels like drawing with one~ This comes pretty close.

I should probably scan all those doodles...

Wowee, I'm pretty jealous :0 making a character look directly at the viewer is really hard, in my opinion TwT especially getting the eyes even like you did -- I really love it! Plus, such an adorable smile on this one :) I also must say that the details you put on the eyes are fantastic :D I kinda might think about doing that little upward line swerve thingie you did for the eye shine details -- with your permission of course!

Gaah! No need to be jealous >_< You're better at this art-thing than I am, so I suppose it's nice to have at least one place where I have the upper hand.

I've been doing a lot of practice drawing on notebook paper (since I have plenty of it at the school I'm working in), so I guess the lines have been helping me keep things around the same height~

A few people have commented on the way I do eyes, so I guess I'm doing something right o_o I started drawing them after I discovered the artist Inuarashi had a Golden Retriever girl very similar to Pepper. I rather enjoyed his method of drawing eyes, so I adapted my style from the way he does it ^^ Feel free to give it a try if you like the way I do 'em!

Edit - Oh! And in Sai (dunno if this relates to Manga Studio or not), the eye shine was the standard AirBrush tool on a Luminosity layer, Hue of 0:195, Saturation of 040, Volume of 252
