Schools of any kind grate and frustrate me, so I pick up what I can elsewhere and try to make a better picture each time. I'm glad you like how this one came out!

'Cuz I have an art education. I can do portraits and paintings...yet cartoons are pretty difficult... I'm probably used to have a model or a photo while with cartoons you're making the positions and figures up.

No matter what style you use, you can draw with or without references. In most cases you're looking for the proportions and the way the basic shapes move, rather than going for a direct copy. I'm no good with references though.. it's easier (or just more fun?) for me to just figure out where the picture 'pops' and make the depth there, if that makes any sense.
