The television froze mid-announcement, the anchor-man’s mouth still slightly agape, caught in the act of bringing his soul shattering report to the world. The air was still, the office silent now besides the quiet beeping of the various communicators, not a soul wanted to disturb the eerie tranquility that had fallen across the Watch house.
“It can’t be true… Can it…?” One of the officers dare asked, tearing his eyes away from the bearer of bad news to peer across his officers. Their expressions said it all, it was true and they had already accepted it.
A brief glimpse of Lanken, Lieutenant Kerr’s former partner, was all the officer needed to understand just what this meant. The looks of grim determination and utter resignation warring on his features said it all.
They'd all seen this coming...
