Background/History
Ryou's parents were a mix of something odd; a one night stand between a very fertile wolf/husky, and an otter lady he met along a river. The big wolf couldn't resist the temptation of such a tight lay and no compromise from the different species, but the fact was that both of them were quite fertile. After a few months, the otter noticed she was pregnant, and a few more months passed, and there she had a single pup! It was quite strange, and the mix in genetics left the boy with an odd fur pattern. She didn't want to have her life held back by a child, however, and she did the responsible thing in taking her to a foster home. The trek to the closest city left her tired, and she left as soon as she left the boy at the home, without even a name.
He was named Ryan by the foster home and he lived quite happily there, however, it was still a foster home and the boy yearned for a family. He didn't have many friends, being shunned for his differences, but he tried to ignore them, knowing he was simply special. The boy had a fascination for the Japanese cartoons he'd see on TV and in bookstores, and after learning a few words, he named himself Ryou, which is Japanese for dragon. He felt it was a proper name, as he was unique and rare like dragons.
Every now and then, couples would visit and show interest in the boy, but ultimately they shunned him, with preferences for "normal" kids who could become properly adjusted to society. The dog eventually realized that if he bought and sold candy from door to door, he could actually keep a job. Though it isn't glamorous by any means, the pup already had work at the age of ten, moved out of the foster home, and set up a deal with a low end hotel. Each day he'd go out for twelve hours and sell sweets, and when he returned home, the boy rewarded himself with candy as well. He got used to this style of life, and by the time he became a teenager, Ryou was chubby and round from the candy, though he was already doing better than anyone could expect from a foster child. He knew, however, that it worked for him, and he was completely happy with life.
